Application Process

Steps to apply

  • STEP 1: Carefully read the Program Guide (PERSWADE 13001G) to check eligibility for applying to join PERSWADE as a STUDENT or PDF. 
  • STEP 2: Discuss the application with the supervisor/co-supervisor.
  • STEP 3: Fill up the Application Form (PERSWADE 13001A), then directly “Submit Form”  to yang.chen@emt.inrs.ca before the prescribed deadline. For details, please read page 9 in the Program Guide.
  • STEP 4: Prepare and send all documents listed in the DOCUMENT CHECKLIST (except reference letters and application form) in one compiled PDF file to yang.chen@emt.inrs.ca before the prescribed deadline.
  • STEP 5: Make sure that Reference Letters have been directly emailed to PERSWADE by the referees before the prescribed deadline.
  • STEP 6: Once funding is awarded, secure a Co-Funding Agreement with the academic supervisor (and university representative, as applicable) and send all required documentations listed in Notification Letter to PERSWADE Program Coordinator by email, mail or in person before the prescribed deadline.

Any student or PDF who intends to join PERSWADE should follow the Application Flowchart – Enrollment shown above to carefully and completely fill up the application form and prepare the required documents, then submit them before the prescribed deadline.


Documents Required

1. Co-Funding Agreement

Once funding is awarded, the Applicant should secure a Co-Funding Agreement with the academic supervisor (and university representative, as applicable) and send the original signed Co-Funding Agreement to PERSWADE Program Coordinator by mail or in person before the prescribed deadline. Otherwise the application may be considered to have been withdrawn.

Should this agreement be breached at any moment during enrollment, PERSWADE reserves the rigtht to terminate its own funding.

 

2. Application Form (PERSWADE 13001A)

The Applicant must carefully and completely fill up Application Form (PERSWADE 13001A), sign it, and have it signed by the supervisor and whenever applicable by the co-supervisor, the industrial mentor, and  the university department. Once completed, it should be returned to yang.chen@emt.inrs.ca by clicking “Submit Form” in the upper right corner of the form. For details, please read page 9 in the Program Guide. The Application may be refused if forms are incomplete.

NOTE: PERSWADE only accepts a real digital signature in the application form, not any other form of authenticity of the applicant’s identity, such as www.google.com.

 

3. Official Transcripts

The Applicant must include a photocopy of original official transcripts (both past and current university programs) in the compiled PDF file for all documents to be sent to PERSWADE. If they are neither in English nor in French, a certified translation with a copy of the originals must be included.

 

4. Certificates/Awards

The Applicant must include photocopies of original Certificates/Awards in the compiled PDF file for all documents to be sent to PERSWADE. If they are neither in English nor in French, a certified translation with a copy of the originals must be included.

 

5. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

The Applicant must include a CV in English or French in the compiled PDF file for all documents to be sent to PERSWADE.

 

6. Reference Letters

The Reference Letters should be emailed directly from the referees to PERSWADE at yang.chen@emt.inrs.ca. Shall you opt for submitting one of the Reference Letters yourself by email in an electronic format, then you must put the referee who has provided and signed that letter in cc to validate its authenticity.

  • An Undergraduate Applicant:  one reference letter is required.
  • A Graduate or a PDF Applicant: two reference letters are required and one of which should be from someone who will not be supervising the proposed project.


NOTE:

  1. DO NOT COMPILE the application form and the accompanying documents into one SINGLE PDF file.
  2. SUBMIT the completed application form (PERSWADE 13001A) by clicking the “Submit Form” in the upper right corner of the form. Please carefully read STEP 3 on page 9 in the Program Guide.
  3. COMPILE all documents listed in the DOCUMENT CHECKLIST (except reference letters and application form) into a readable PDF file or portfolio file, SAVED AS “Firstname_Lastname_PERSWADEsup.pdf”, AND send this compiled PDF file to yang.chen@emt.inrs.ca.
  4. SUBMIT the application form and all accompanying documents before midnight (12:00AM) Eastern Standard Time (EST) or Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), as applicable, on the evening of the prescribed deadline posted on our website.
  5. The Application will be first evaluated by PERSWAD’s Evaluation Committee based on Selection Criteria for Admission. The Applicant who passes this first-round evaluation might be convened to semi-structured interviews if required. Successful applications will be announced on www.create-perswade.ca
  6. The Applicant whose application is selected will receive a “Notification Letter” from PERSWADE. Once receipt of Notification Letter, he/she needs to prepare and submit all required documentations before the prescribed deadline.
  7. Should funding be awarded, the Applicant will receive a “Notice of Acceptance” from PERSWADE.
